Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a methodology that dates back 4,000 years and uses the insertion of a single-use, thin, sterile, stainless-steel needle into specific points on the body.  These points are referred to as acupuncture points, which run along 12 main energy channels also referred to as meridians.

Research has shown stimulating these points can correct imbalances within the body by promoting the flow of oxygen, blood, and nutrients throughout the body.

*For patients that avoid needles: Please note that stimulation of acupuncture points may also be done without the insertion of needles. Call our office for more details.

Acupuncture points are believed to stimulate the central nervous system. These biochemical changes may stimulate the body's natural healing abilities and promote physical and emotional well-being.

Acupuncture Treatment may be used to treat a variety of conditions some of which are listed below:

  • Anxiety

  • Arthritis

  • Chronic Pain

  • Fatigue

  • Fertility Function

  • Gastrointestinal Problems (Constipation, Diarrhea, Irritable bowel Syndrome, Bloating, Gas, etc.)

Everyone responds differently to the insertion of the acupuncture needles.  The most common sensation felt is a small ‘mosquito bite’ feeling as the needle penetrates the skin, followed by a dull ache as the needle is brought to the proper depth. This sensation typically fades as the needles are retained for a period between 15 to 30 minutes.
Patients typically report a deep sense of relaxation during that time.
